Gunpla Report - Akatsuki 1/100

So here’s the second model kit I bought last week, the 1/100th scale Akatsuki full set, it took a lot longer to finish. I’d say the Epyon took about 1.5 hours maybe a bit more. Well this took at least 3 hours. Even still, it was worth it.
First of all remember the image of how many pieces there were for the Epyon? Well it pales in comparison to the number of pieces required for this model kit. Observe:
Now you get the picture. You can click to zoom in and see all the pieces. Also, if it’s not immediately apparent, it covered my entire desk! I had to put the instructions on my bed next to me for the majority of the time. That’s part of the reason is took so long.
So after around 2 hours of work I finally finished the main body.

Of course the work wasn’t done there. I had to make the weapons. About a half-hour later they were done. Here’s some poses of the model with the weapons:

So after two and a half hours of work I did a pretty good job right? Ya, I did. It still isn’t finished though. Next step was to make the Shiranui pack. For those who don’t know the name (I sure as hell didn’t) it’s the DRAGOON unit pack that can make huge shields somehow. That sucked up around a half hour. Here are some picks of the model with this pack on:

If you haven’t noticed already I had to weigh down the stand because it kept tilting forward. Well the last step was to build the Oowashi pack. It’s the flight one that’s essentially the same as the flight packs for the Strike and Impulse.
So that took about half an hour to finish. It has a plane mode for remote sending. I took pictures in that mode first then with it on the mobile suit.

So that’s it. I put it near the corner of my desk for display with the Oowashi pack on and that’s it. A total of 3.5 hours for completion over two days. Worth it? Hell yes. One thing though, I secured the stand to the desk with scotch tape. If anyone can think of a better solution leave a comment with it. I’d like to have a better way to keep it from falling.
I hope you enjoyed my report and pics and I’ll post more when I can afford it again. Untill next time!

those look neat. im intending to get the Strike Freedom one, with paint =P
You’re pretty good, it seems that there was not scratch at all
