GIR's Anime (& Sci-Fi) Blog

[AnimeBlogger.net] Donation Drive

I’m sorry about the extreme lack of posts lately but I’ve been busy with various things and been slightly lazy lately so I promise to make new posts (and a lot of them) soon. But before that I need to address an important issue:

AnimeBlogger.net has always been supportive of new writers all over the world to establish their blog for free. As we continue to expand and include new bloggers to the anime blogosphere, we have reached a point where advertising dollars are not enough to pay for the hosting services.

Hence, we have decided to appeal for donations to cover the taxes and hosting fees of AnimeBlogger.net. The first goal is to raise US$1600 to cover three months of hosting and the taxes applicable to AnimeBlogger.net. When we have secured that amount, we are looking into adding another server in order to accommodate more writers, which is where the second goal comes in. If we reach our second goal of US$2200, we’ll be able to add another server.

If you are wondering how you can donate to us, there are various ways. First, you can directly donate to the site via Amazon or Paypal from our donations page. Second, you can buy AnimeBlogger.net merchandise. As an incentive to those who donate, everyone who donates more than $5 will be entered to win a prize. Currently we have a sponsor that’s paying for two AnimeBlogger.net shirts for winners. You can also contribute any anime-related items as prizes for the lucky draw.

AnimeBlogger.net needs your help. Everyone is integral to the support of AnimeBlogger.net. Every little bit counts to hit our target, be it $1 or $100. You will make a difference. Thank you and please continue to explore our anime blogging community!

More anime inspired murders.

This time it’s Death Note. No the victims didn’t get heart attacks and died mysteriously. For those that can read French, here’s the original version. For those who can’t here’s the story from Anime News Network:

La Dernière Heure, a French daily newspaper in Belgium similar to United Kingdom’s The Sun or America’s New York Post, reports that two identical messages linked to the Death Note manga were left near severed body parts that were discovered Friday afternoon in the forest of Belgium’s Duden Park. According to the newspaper, the two paper sheets both say “Watashi wa Kira dess,” an apparent misspelling of the Japanese phrase “Watashi wa Kira desu,” or “I am Kira (Killer).” This is a catchphrase from writer Tsugumi Ooba and artist Takeshi Obata’s Death Note suspense manga series, in which a high school boy discovers a notebook which allows him to kill people by writing their names in it.

The lower abdomen and two thighs of an unknown Caucasian male were discovered by walkers in the park Friday at 5:30 p.m. local time, and police sources for the newspaper said that the body parts were left no more than six hours before the discovery. There was no clothing, personal effects, or identification besides the two paper sheets. The two paper sheets reportedly had the same message, but were written in two different colors with no apparent signs of aging. Duden Park is located on east side of the Senne River Valley.

Belgian police are requesting that anyone who saw suspicious behavior on Friday between 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. near or at the park to call the Belgian phone number 02/559.80.00.

Update: According to the newspaper, the lower abdomen comes from an unknown Caucasian male, but it is unknown if the two thighs belong to the same individual. Thank you to woelfie for the news tip.

Gunpla Report - Akatsuki 1/100

So here’s the second model kit I bought last week, the 1/100th scale Akatsuki full set, it took a lot longer to finish. I’d say the Epyon took about 1.5 hours maybe a bit more. Well this took at least 3 hours. Even still, it was worth it.

R.O.D the OVA

What’s something I can tell you without a summary of the OVA to tell you how awesome it is. Oh ya, it has: a bibliophile who controls paper, a US president who likes launching nukes and wets his pants a lot, a secret organization that deals with books to saves save the world, historical figures with special powers, a song that makes people kill themselves and a hot girl who can go through anything while making lesbian innuendo. You know what that means. It’s time to Read or Die. (the OVA)
